Drums and Percussion

Drums & Percussion

Some musicians like to tell drummer jokes, but at Blues Angel Music in Pensacola, we know the job of the drummer is nothing to joke about. The drums and percussion are among the most important pieces of nearly all modern music. Drummers, you keep the pace, set the rhythm, and give the crowd something to dance to. Thank you.

We know your needs extend beyond the basic kit. That’s why we have drum sets, electronic kits, cymbals, hand percussion, cajons, and lots of accessories. Check out some of what we have to offer. While you’re here, check out our drum kit fish tank. It was built by the folks at TANKED, and it’s something else. Every drum is an individual aquarium, with both freshwater and saltwater drums.

Acoustic Drums

Acoustic Kits

While you may not consciously know it, if you’re a drummer, your body knows. Did you bang on Mom’s pots and pans? Do you find yourself tapping your feet or fingers with the music without even thinking about it? Yep, you’re a drummer. No matter your skill level or playing style, there is an acoustic drum set for you. We have or can get 4, 5, 6, or 7-piece shell packs or complete sets. If you want to build your own kit from individual components, we can help you there, too. With a great selection of cymbals and the ability to order anything you like, we want to be your drum store. Come try a set of Mapex or Yamaha acoustic drums and see what works best for you.

Electronic Drums

Electronic Drum Kits

If you want to get technical about it, an electronic drum set isn’t really a drum set at all. It is actually a set of synthesizer pads programmed to mimic the sounds of a traditional acoustic drum kit and arranged in a familiar way. That’s not a jab at electronic drums, though. In addition to their ability to mimic an acoustic kit, they can also recreate the sounds of hand drums, shakers, tambourines, and a vast array of digital sounds. As an added bonus, an electronic drum set is great for practicing without bothering the neighbors. Plug in your headphones and play along with the rest of the band. Check out an electronic drum set from Yamaha, Ddrum, or Roland.

Hand Percussion and World Drums

Hand Percussion & World Drums

These are the primitive cousins of the modern drum set. They are also a great way to get everyone involved in making music. An egg shaker, tambourine, or cajon can turn any toe-tapper into a musician. Hand percussion requires no mallet or drumstick – there’s nothing between the instrument and the musician. While primitive, these instruments offer a complex, natural, and raw flavor to a song. Some examples of hand percussion and world drums you’ll find at Blues Angel Music are bongos, congas, djembes, jam blocks, cowbells, and steel drums. We have hand percussion from makers like PUR and Latin Percussion.

Drum Accessories

The drummer’s needs don’t stop with a kit or a set of congas. Accessories are an important part of maintaining your sound. We have heads, sticks, mallets, cases, hardware, and more from makers including Remo, Evans, Vater, Vic Firth, Gibraltar, Head Hunter, Zildjian, Sabian, LP, Pure, and Promark.

If you’re a gigging percussionist or a music festival drum circle participant, Blues Angel Music has you covered.
