Description
This 2018 Rupert Neve Designs Clone 1290 Microphone Preamp was owned by the late, great Bob Rupe, former bassist for Cracker. It’s in very good cosmetic shape with normal scratches and is in 100% working condition!
Bob played with the popular 1990s alternative rock band from roughly 1994-1999 and appeared on several recordings including The Golden Age and Gentleman’s Blues. He was also a founding member of The Silos and went on to record with House of Freaks, Gutterball, Danny and Dusty and Sparklehorse. Sadly, he passed on March 3, 2025, but he leaves behind a collection of work that will live on in the hearts and minds of his fans.
Other pieces of gear that Bob acquired throughout his illustrious career are also available, so please feel free to check out our other listings and don’t hesitate to let us know if we can answer any questions you may have.
BOB’S DESCRIPTION
This is a two channel, hand built Neve 1290 clone. The circuit design is by Martin Adriaanse who was a tech for AMS Neve. It uses Carnhill transformers on the in and out. Stepped Grayhill attenuators. JLM Audio power supply with JLM go between for 48v phantom (LED), phase and -20db pad. I have also incorporated a transformer tap switch for 300ohm or 1200ohm operation.
I’ve restored many consoles over the years including Flickinger, AMEK, Harrison and Soundcraft, so rest assured it’s done right.
This is a great sounding pre, and was my go-to for kick and snare.
