In 1825 Denis Buffet-Auger began making clarinets in Paris, France and grew under Jean-Louis Buffet and his wife Zoe Crampon. It was at this time that it became known as Buffet Crampon. Blues Angel Music is proud to offer the full Buffet Crampon line to the Gulf Coast.
The company has expanded its manufacturing to include facilities in Germany and China. In addition to clarinets, where the company got its start, Buffet Crampon also manufactures oboes, flutes, saxophones, English horns, and bassoons. In addition to the Buffet Crampon name, the company manufactures instruments under 11 other brands.

Our history is very much tied to our namesake, Verne Q. Powell. A jeweler by trade, Powell fashioned himself a flute in 1910 from whatever Silver he could get his hands on, including Silver Dollars, watch casings, and spoons. The instruments were immediately recognized as the very best a flutist could play and endorsements flowed in from flutists around the globe. Over the decades, innovation became a hallmark of the Powell company. 2017 marks the 90th Anniversary of this characteristically American flute making company. Started in 1927 by Verne Q. Powell himself, the past 90 years have been marked by innovation, modernization, and a dedication to artistry.

Julius Keilworth
The crossing of cultures that is the heart of jazz music is evident in the sounds created by Keilwerth saxophones. Although founded and pioneered by the musicians and in the music halls of Europe, the Keilwerth Saxophone emerged on the World market in the latter part of the 20th century due in no small part to the American Jazz Musicians. The strong influence of artists such as Dave Liebman, James Moody, Ernie Watts, among many others has made the world aware of the “Keilwerth Sound” and continues to reach musicians throughout the world.

Since 1884 Emil Knoth studied and worked in Schöneck/Vogtland with August Richard Penzel. In 1900 he founded the Rino workshop in Markneukirchen and the pursuit of excellence continued.
