This 2012 PRS NF3 Electric Guitar with original hardshell case has been gently owned and is in excellent condition with little wear! Noticeable pick scratches can be seen on the pickguard and a couple of barely visible scratches on the back of the body can be detected upon close inspection. Named after its versatile pickup configuration (3 pickups paired with a 5-way blade switch), the NF3 utilizes the modern pickup technology of PRS Narrowfield pickups. Narrowfields use the same wire as PRS’ coveted 57/08 pickups, but are narrower pole to pole and deeper front to back. The result is a new-sounding pickup system with exceptional clarity. Paired with a “pattern regular” bolt-on neck and flat body design, the NF3 is a modern classic.

The NF3 incorporates the following new features:

V12 Finish

Finish should enhance the look, sound, and feel of a guitar by accentuating the wood’s inherent beauty and feel without hindering its natural resonance. And PRS Guitars’ new “V12” finish does just that. Introduced at Experience PRS 2010, “V12” is a very thin, hard, and clear finish that will not crack or react with thinners. After roughly 12 years in development, it is halfway between acrylic and nitro but with a classic feel all its own. “PRS models with this new finish feel like old instruments,” said Paul Reed Smith.

Pattern Regular Neck Shape

Neck shapes have always been a high priority for PRS and a hallmark of their quality. A guitar should feel comfortable, like “home,” as soon as you pick it up, and the neck is paramount to that connection. The new “Pattern Regular” neck shape is similar to the traditional PRS regular neck found on guitars made in the late ’80s at PRS’ former Virginia Avenue location.

This new neck shape reflects modern tooling and programming that allows PRS to even more preciously shape and consistently reproduce their necks.

The bridge plays a crucial role in the tone of a guitar by transferring the string’s vibrations to the tonewood. When executed well, the bridge will enhance the wood’s natural resonance.
