Description
This stunning 1966 Fender Duo-Sonic II Electric Guitar with Original Daphne Blue Finish is in excellent cosmetic shape with lighter wear one would expect with a vintage instrument! Unbelievably clean for its age! This time capsule of a guitar has never been refinished and its Daphne Blue paint job is still bold and unfaded like that of most specimens from this era. A handful of normal nicks and paint chips can be seen, but wear is minimal. Chrome hardware is in equally great shape with light scratches and minimal oxidation! The neck is straight as an arrow and a few spots of wear can be felt on the back. Our very own master luthier, Taylor Wilton reshaped the entire fingerboard, taking it from a 7.25″ to 10″ radius. This gives the guitar a more modern feel and allows for bending of the strings (even at the upper register) without fretting out. Taylor also performed an entire stainless steel refret and handcrafted a brand new bone nut! Original frets and nut are also included for the purists out there!
Every other component on this guitar has been confirmed to be original including the potentiometers and pickups (pickups are dated 1965 and 1966). We believe the hardshell case originally came with a ’50’s Duo-Sonic and may not be original to this guitar, That said, it’s a perfect fit!
Rarely in our 26 years in the business have we seen a vintage guitar in such fine condition. Everyone who’s picked it up and played it wants to take it home (including our store owner!) Tons of vintage mojo! Looks, plays and sounds fantastic! This one won’t last long…make it yours today!
